Formed in 1921, the FEI is the governing body of international equestrian sports. Today, there are 134 National Equestrian Federations affiliated with the FEI. Driving came under the FEI umbrella in 1970 thanks to the efforts of HRH the Duke of Edinburgh, then the FEI President, who organised the meeting in 1969 which produced the first rule book. United States Driving for the Disabled, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, seeks to improve the lives of physically challenged individuals throughout the United States and Canada by providing the experience of driving horses in a safe and challenging environment. USDFD fosters opportunities for drivers to compete in national and international amateur competitions by training and providing financial support for Team USA.

The USEF is the National Governing Body for equestrian sport; a responsibility the Federation takes very seriously. The largest multi- breed and discipline organization in equestrian sport, the USEF stewards safe and fair competition. Currently the USEF recognizes 11 breeds and 18 disciplines that fall under the Federation’s rules and regulations. Provides opportunities to work with, learn from, and teach others who share an interest in draft horses, mules, and donkeys. Members have wide-ranging interests, from farming with draft horses and mules to driving elegant carriages; from trail riding to dressage; from showing at halter to competing in pulling and log skidding contests; and from breeding and raising stock to caring for animals retired from the field and the show ring. Ownership of a horse, mule, or donkey isnot required to be eligible for membership--just interest and enthusiasm!
